Sheikh Hasina lands at Hindon Air Base near Delhi after fleeing from Dhaka

Subsequent to the crisis at Bangladesh, the ex-PM Sheikh Hasina landed at Hindon Air Base near Delhi, after resigning and fleeing the country amidst violent protests. Upon her arrival at Delhi, the NSA Chief Ajit Doval met her at the air base. As per reports, she is seeking asylum in the United Kingdom. Hasina has succumbed to the protests leading to her tendering her resignation.
Meanwhile, the Chief of the Bangladesh Army General Waqar-uz-Zaman who has discussed govenance aspect with the President of the country, has told the protestors to put an end to the violence, and announced that an interim government is being formed.
Earlier during the day, a personal aide to the former PM Hasina, informed on condition of anonymity to Al Jazeera that she had fled the country in an Army helicopter along with her sister. Getting news of her fleeing the country, the protestor raided her home breaking or taking away the furniture and taking all food from the storage.
Protests
The Students in Bangladesh have been protesting since July 2024 against the government's proposed quota system. Till now, as many as 300 people have been killed in the violent protests after the government banned internet in an attempt to supress the protests. The students, under the Student Against Discrimination banner began their march to Dhaka which began the violence.
