BJP and Congress have pit ex-administrative officials against each other from Udaipur
Mannalal Rawat, ex-Additional Commissioner of the Transport Department filed his nomination on 28 March from Udaipur, on a BJP ticket. The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Udaipur will be held in the second phase, i.e. 26 April. Rawat filed his nomination in the afternoon at the District Collectorate and handed over his nomination papers to District Collector and Returning Officer, Arvind Poswal.
He has been pitted against Tarachand Meena, an IAS Officer, who has also helped the top administrative seat at Udaipur, as District Collector and District Magistrate lately and is credited with giving plenty of impetus to the tribal segment around Udaipur. Tarachan is a well known and much respected face in Udaipur, as during his tenure the city was on the global map for a number of positive initiatives made under Tarachand as District Collector. He will be filing his nomination under Congress ticket on 30 March, two days after Rawat files his nomination. The former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot is expected to be present when Tarachand files his nomination.
