Khadi Mela inaugurated – rush of patrons on day one

The PMEGP Gram Udyog and Khadi Mela, a joint effort of the Khadi and Gram Udyog Aayog, Mumbai and the Rajasthan Aadimjaati Sevak Sangh was inaugurated today at the Town Hall grounds. This state level Khadi Mela will be open for a period of 10 days.

 

The PMEGP Gram Udyog and Khadi Mela, a joint effort of the Khadi and Gram Udyog Aayog, Mumbai and the Rajasthan Aadimjaati Sevak Sangh was inaugurated today at the Town Hall grounds.

This state level Khadi Mela will be open for a period of 10 days. Presided by Sajjan Katara, the inaugural ceremonies were performed by the President of the Rajasthan Khadi and Gram Udyog board Anil Parikh. The Chief Guest of the function was MP Raghuvir Singh Meena.

The stalls in the Mela will be a one-stop venue for cotton, woolen, silk and polyester khadi garments and cloth. Also available will be beautifully crafted and hand-made garments from the cottage industry. Discounts from 10% – 25% is expected to cause a rush of buyers.

Anil Parikh told the participants in the inaugural ceremony that this mela was primarily organized for the purpose of promoting small and cottage industry and khadi products under the Prime Ministers Rural Development and Employment program.
