IND vs ENG 3rd Test: 5 Records Gill Can Break at Lord’s
All eyes on Shubman Gill as India face England at Lord’s for the third Test
July 10 2025 - The third match of the Test series between India and England will start today, i.e. from July 10, at the historic Lord's Cricket Ground. This ground is also known as the Mecca of Cricket. All eyes will be on Team India captain Shubman Gill.
Gill is in great form right now. He has scored centuries in three out of four innings in the two Test matches played so far against England. He made 147 runs in the first innings of the first Test and 8 runs in the second innings. In the second Test at Edgbaston, he played a historic innings of 269 runs in the first innings and 161 runs in the second innings.
Now, in the third Test at Lord's, everyone is expecting another big performance from Gill. Let’s look at five big records he can break in this match.
1. First Indian to Score Centuries in First 3 Tests as Captain
Gill has the chance to become the first Indian to score a century in his first three Test matches as captain. Till now, no Indian captain has done this. Former England captain Alastair Cook is the only player who scored five centuries in his first five Test matches as captain.
2. Most Runs in a Test Series as Captain
Gill can also aim for the record of most runs in a Test series as captain. Don Bradman had scored 810 runs in the 1936–37 Ashes series as captain. Gill now needs just 225 more runs to break that record. This is also his first series as Test captain, just like Bradman.
3. Third Indian Captain to Win More Than One Test in England
Gill can become the third Indian captain to win more than one Test match in England. Till now, only Kapil Dev and Virat Kohli have done this. If India wins the Lord’s Test, Gill will join this elite list.
4. Most Test Runs in England by an Indian Captain
Gill has already scored 585 runs in two Test matches in this series, including two centuries and one double century. He now needs only 9 more runs to break Virat Kohli’s record of most runs in England by an Indian captain.
5. Most Runs in a Test Series in England by an Indian Batsman
The record for most runs in a Test series in England by an Indian batsman is held by Rahul Dravid, who scored 602 runs in 4 Tests. Gill is just 18 runs away from breaking this record. If he scores well at Lord’s, he can become the highest run-scorer for India in a Test series in England.
