Indian runners break world record for the longest relay run - clock 7,768 km in 790 hours

 Govind Kharol of Udaipur was a key member of the 20 member Indian contingent

 

Udaipur based marathon runner and cyclist, Govind Kharol was a key member of the World Record breaking team

Twenty runners from across India participated in the world record breaking relay run that concluded on 13 December at Berhampur in Orissa. India Gate in New Delhi. Govind Kharol, a marathon runner and cyclist from Udaipur was one of the participants in this race. Govind was also a part of the flag-off team when the race began from the residence of the Chief Minister of Haryana at 5pm on 3 December.

The world record for the longest relay was earlier held by England. Govind added that the relay run was organized by the Himalayan Knights under the supervision of Sandeep Arya or Kurukshetra and Lalit Yadav of Rewari.

Govind informed that the runners included 4 girls and 16 boys ran across Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

This performance by Govind, has added to his earlier outings, which include a cycle journey from Udaipur to Bangalore and from Manali to Khardungla Pass in Ladakh.
