Perfect 10: Haryana Pacer Anshul Kamboj Scripts Ranji History
23 yr-old Anshul Kamboj, the fast bowler from Haryana became the first bowlers in 39 years to take all 10 wickets in a single innings in a Ranji Trophy match against Kerala. Kamboj achieved this feat on Friday, November 15, in the first innings of the match between Haryana and Kerala, that is being played at Chaudhry Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli. He took 10 wicket by giving away only 49 runs in the 30.1 overs he bowled in the innings, restricting Kerala to 291 in their first innings.
Kamboj, who exhibited a stellar performance of pace, bounce and aggression, becomes the third bowler after Pradeep Sunderam of Rajasthan, who took 10 for 78 in one innings in a Ranji match against Vidarbha in 1985-86. The first bowler to achieve this feat was Premangsu Chatterjee of Bengal, who took 10 for 20 runs against Assam in 1956-57.
Kamboj is a right hand medium pacer and was born on December 6 2000 in Karnal, Haryana. He also performs well as a right hand batsman and also plays for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
The last time any Indian bowler had taken 10 wickets in an innings in domestic cricket, was in 2000-2001, when Debasis Mohanty, playing for East Zone, took 10 for 46 in a Duleep Trophy match against South Zone. The last Indian bowler to have performed this feat in an international match was Anil Kumble in 1999, when he bowled out Pakistan after conceding 74 runs, in a Test match being played at Kotla in New Delhi.
