Udaipur, Oct 02, 2025: When the Indian cricket team came to the field for the first Test against the West Indies, they looked a little different. The team wore a new jersey with the Apollo Tyres logo. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has signed a deal with Apollo Tyres as the new jersey sponsor, worth ₹579 crore.
After the ban on fantasy betting apps in India, Dream11 had to end its sponsorship early. Then Apollo Tyres made a big offer and signed a contract. Their logo will be on the Indian team’s jersey till March 2028. This means Apollo Tyres will be on the Indian jersey for the next two and a half years. The ₹358Cr contract signed by Dream11 in 2023 came after Byju's quit as sponsor. Then Dream11 was made to exit after the Indian government inked the Online Gaming Bill 2025, that technically implies that betting is banned in India.
West Indies win toss and bat first
West Indies captain Roston Chase won the toss and chose to bat in the first Test of the two-match series. Indian captain Shubman Gill said the team will play with two fast bowlers and three spinners. Nitish Kumar Reddy has returned to the side. The West Indies team will play with two fast bowlers and two spinners.
This Test in Ahmedabad is the first at home after the retirement of big players Ravichandran Ashwin, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma. The last time India played a home Test without them was in November.
On September 2, the BCCI invited new bids for team sponsorship. The bidding took place on September 14. As per rules, gaming, betting, crypto, and tobacco brands were not allowed. Apollo Tyres won the bid and will now sponsor the Indian team. With India’s busy schedule ahead, Apollo Tyres will get strong global recognition.
