Just before the Asia Cup 2025, big news has come about Team India. Support staff member Rajiv Kumar, who was with Team India for 15 years, has been removed. Rajiv will not be with the team during the Asia Cup.

Rajeev Kumar’s Role

When Indian players were tired after playing matches, Rajeev Kumar used to remove their fatigue with his massage. He was a very familiar face in the team for many years. Sharing a story on Instagram, Rajeev informed everyone about the end of his contract with BCCI and wrote:

"It has been an honor and privilege for me to serve the Indian cricket team for a decade (2006-2015). Thank God for this opportunity. I am deeply grateful and excited about the road ahead."

Rajeev Kumar was more than just a support staff. He was always seen with his trademark smile. He stood on the side of the field, ready to step in whenever players needed him. After the day’s play, players would first go to him so their tired muscles could relax and recover.

He also made energy drinks, protein shakes and hydration mixes for players according to their needs. On the field, he stayed near the boundary and collected balls, helping players stay fresh and keeping the over rate under control.
