Udaipur's Dipankar Chakravarti Runner-Up in World Masters Tennis Event
The veteran player from Udaipur won the title in the 60+ age category of the International Tennis Federation tournament held in Jaipur
Udaipur, April 15, 2025 - Veteran tennis player of Udaipur, Dr Dipankar Chakravarti was first runner-up in the World Masters Lawn Tennis Tournament in the 60+ age category organised by the International Tennis Federation. The tournament was held in Jaipur at Jay Club from April 8 to 14.
In a thrilling quarter-final match, Chakravarti defeated Delhi’s Chandra Bhushan Prasad in a super tiebreaker with scores of 4-6, 6-3, 10-6. Prasad is captain of the Indian team for this year’s World Championship in Florida, USA.
In the semi-final match, Chakravarti overcame a hard fight by Rajan Berry and again won a super tiebreaker with scores of 6-3, 3-6, 10-5. Berry is also part of the Indian team.
In the final match Chakravarti fought hard but was narrowly defeated by Maharashtra’s Shirish Nandukar 1-6, 6-3, 10-8.
The veteran player from Udaipur has also represented India in the World Championship held in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2023.
