Manu adds to her earlier tally of medals for India, the first that she won on 29 July in the Individual Women's Single Air Pistol event. This win makes her the first Indian sportsperson (post Independence) to win two medals in a single Olympic Games.

Sarabjot and Manu defeated South Korea's Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho in the match for the third place.

In the pre-independence Olympics, Norman Pritchard, a British-Indian, won two medals at the 1900 Summer Games. He secured a silver medal in both the men's 200m sprint and the 200m hurdles.
