Kylian Mbappe Wins His First European Golden Boot; Fourth Player From Real Madrid

The European Golden Boot award is decided based on the value of goals scored in Europe’s top leagues and Mbappe topped the list with 62 points

Udaipur, Nov 1, 2025: Despite not doing well as a team, Kylian Mbappe had a great season personally last year. He scored 31 goals in 34 La Liga matches. Because of this performance, the French star of Real Madrid won the European Golden Boot for the first time in his career.

Mbappe shared his thoughts at a ceremony held at the Santiago Bernabeu after receiving the award given by European sports media. He said he wants to play for Real Madrid for many more years and win more trophies. Coach Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid players, and club president Florentino Perez were also present.

Mbappe said, “Winning the Golden Boot is a big joy for me. It’s the first time I’ve received this award, and it’s a very special moment. As a forward, it means a lot to me.”

The European Golden Boot award is decided based on the value of goals scored in Europe’s top leagues. Mbappe topped the list with 62 points from 31 goals (2 points per goal in Europe’s top five leagues). Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres came second with 58.5 points after scoring 39 goals in Portugal’s Primeira Liga (1.5 points per goal). Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was third with 58 points, scoring 29 goals in the English Premier League.

The award was first given in the 1967–68 season by the French media L’Équipe. Since 1997, it has been presented by European sports media. Argentine legend Lionel Messi has won the award a record six times.

Mbappe Aims for More Glory

Real Madrid are in great form this season under coach Xabi Alonso. They are on top of the table with 12 wins in 13 matches across all competitions. Mbappe, who dreams of ending the title drought this season, said, “There is great unity in our team. Hopefully, we will win something big this season. Team achievements are more important than individual awards. I want to stay here for many more years and win more trophies like this.”

Perez Praises Mbappe’s Impact

Real are currently leading La Liga with 27 points from 10 matches, while second-placed Barcelona have 22 points. Real recently defeated their arch-rivals Barcelona in El Clasico and will face Valencia on Saturday.

Congratulating Mbappe, Real president Florentino Perez said, “It is an honor to have a player like you in our team. You have represented the club’s values in the best way. Last season, you won the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. You scored 31 goals in 34 matches and 44 goals in all competitions. This season, you already have 16 goals. Only three players in Real Madrid’s history have won the Golden Boot — Hugo Sanchez, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ronaldo Nazario. Now your name has been added to that list.”
