Lionel Messi bagged the Best FIFA's Men's Player award 2022

Lionel Messi of Argentina won the FIFA best Men's Player award for 2022 on Tuesday 28 February 2023. Messi won the award over Kylian Mbappe, his competition in the World Cup final. Despite Mbappe scoring a hat-trick for Les Bleus in a surprising 3-3 draw, Argentina defeated France on penalties in a thrilling final in Doha thanks to Messi. 

After guiding his side to the World Cup championship in December, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni was previously chosen as FIFA's men's coach of the year. Sarina Wiegman, who guided England to victory in the Women's European Championship, received the women's coach honour. Mbappe earned the Golden Boot as top scorer.
