MLSU VC congratulates Sanjeet Singh for winning the Asian Boxing Championship in Dubai

Sanjeet Singh, an alumni of Mohan Lal Sukhadia University won the gold medal at the Asian Boxing Championship in Dubai by beating Olympic medallist Vassiliy Levit of Kazakhstan

Professor Dr Amrika Singh, Vice Chancellor of Mohan Lal Sukhadia University congratulated Sanjeet Singh for winning the prestigious Asian Boxing Championship held in Dubai.

Sanjeet, who is an Army officer and a graduate from the Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, won Gold at the Asian Boxing Championship by beating Rio Olympic Silver Medallist Vassiliy Levit of Kazaksthan. He was declared winner by a split decision. Sanjeet was the second Gold winner for India, after Poja Rani beat Mavluda Movlonova in the woman's 75kg a day before the men's final.

An alumnus of Sukhadia University Sanjeet Singh defeated the 2016 Olympic silver medalist Levit by a 4-1 scoreline. In 2018, Sanjeet had been knocked out by Levit during the President Cup in Kazakhstan.

Sukhadia University Boxing coach Dipendra Singh Chauhan said that Sanjeet is a promising sportsperson and he has proved his mettle when he led the University boxing team in the heavyweight category in the All India Inter-University Boxing Championship organized by Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. In the year 2015-16, he got selected for the Training camp of Indian Boxing team. Further, he joined the Indian Army to carry forward the pride and glory of the country.

ASBC Asian Championship 2021 in Dubai proved fruitful and concluded on a positive note as the Indian contingent were able to win 15 medals, including two gold, five silver, eight bronze. The Championship was jointly organized by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and the UAE Boxing Federation.
