Sourav Ganguly Turns Entrepreneur with Fashion Brand SOURAGYA; Speaks on India-Pakistan Handshake Row
Udaipur, Sept 17, 2025: Former captain of the Indian cricket team and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is now seen in a new role. He has decided to start his own business. With less than fifteen days left for Durga Puja, this Bengali festival is already at its peak and shopping has started. Before the Puja, Sourav Ganguly gave a big surprise. He has launched a new line of Bengali clothes under his own brand ‘Souragya’ on Monday, Sept 15. The brand has been launched under a 50:50 partnership with the famed e-commerce portal, Myntra.
At the launch, Sourav was seen wearing pajamas and a Punjabi. He even walked the ramp in Kolkata on Monday evening wearing clothes from his own brand. Sourav’s new name in Bengali fashion is now ‘Souargya’. Keeping the festival in mind, the prices of his clothing line have been set so that common people can easily afford them.
Sourav on India-Pakistan Cricket Relations
At the launch of his clothing store, Sourav Ganguly shared his thoughts on cricket and personal choices. Journalists asked him about India-Pakistan cricket relations during the Asia Cup. Sourav said, “Terrorism should stop and sports should be played only as sports. Terrorism should end not only between two countries but across the whole world.”
After India’s win, captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube went straight to the dressing room instead of shaking hands with Pakistani players. Pakistan Cricket complained, calling it “against the spirit of sportsmanship.” Sourav reacted by saying that only Suryakumar can answer this matter. He added that he didn’t watch the match after 15 overs as he switched to football, and remarked, “Pakistan is no longer a rival. The Indian team is far ahead in Asia and world cricket.”
Sourav’s Personal Style Choices
People were also curious about Sourav’s clothing preferences. He said he feels more comfortable in pyjamas and Punjabi rather than dhoti. Sourav recalled, “I wore a dhoti at my wedding, but later I started wearing pyjamas and Punjabi. Even during Puja, I prefer Punjabi. Now I mostly buy clothes as per the choice of Dona and Sana.”
