State-Level Tribal Sports Competition Concludes
NSTC chairman cites example of President Droupadi Murmu to encourage tribal youth to move forward
Udaipur, November 28, 2024 - The three-day State-Level Tribal Sports Competition concluded yesterday with a closing ceremony at the Maharana Pratap Sports Village Stadium in Chitrakoot Nagar. Chairman of the National Scheduled Tribes Commission (NSTC) Antar Singh Arya attended the event and felicitated the winners.
In his address, Arya said that tribal children possess exceptional talent in sports and because their lifestyle keeps them linked to Nature, their physical abilities are strong. He added that tribal youth could bring immense glory to their villages, districts, State and the country if they pursued education. He cited the example of President Droupadi Murmu, saying that today, an indigenous person holds the highest office in the country which should serve as a major source of inspiration for society.
The programme was presided over by Professor Anand Paliwal, Dean of Law College. Special guests included Bhimraj Patel, secretary of the Sports Board at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Deputy Commissioner Ragini Damor, social workers Santosh Meena, Rakesh Kumar Dubey, Rajeev Saxena, Ankit Kumar Sen and Govardhan Munde.
Winning Teams:
District Sports Officer Dr Mahesh Paliwal informed that more than 1,300 players from seven districts of the Scheduled Area had participated in the competition, showcasing their skills in various sporting events such as archery, hockey, football, kabaddi, athletics and more.
Results of the matches held yesterday are as follows:
- Hockey: Udaipur was the winner in both Boys and Girls categories, while Dungarpur (Boys) and Banswara (Girls) were the runners-up.
- Kabaddi: Udaipur won in the Girls category, and Dungarpur won in the Boys category.
- Kho-Kho: Udaipur emerged victorious in both Boys and Girls categories.
- Football: Banswara was the winner, Udaipur the runner-up and Dungarpur secured third place.
