Mahesh Waghmare, Udaipurs’ Champion Body Builder has added another feather to his cap by getting home the Gold Medal in the recently concluded North India Body Building Championship 2014.

The two day competition held at Man Singh Indoor Stadium, Jaipur on 27-28 December 2014 was attended by an audience of over 2000 and was presided over by a 20 member jury, from across all states under the North Region.

The Chief Guest at the event were Ashok Parnami and Naveen Yadav, President of Rajasthan Body Building Association.

Teams from 9 States, viz. J&K, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi (2 teams), Uttrakhand and Chandigarh participated in the Competition, commanding a total participation of 200 body builders.

Mahesh Waghmare secured the Gold Medal in the grueling Masters Round, where the jury was made to look at the performance of the top finalists, through the finest of measurements. Mahesh, with his finely crafted boy structure and special emphasis on technique and presentation brought home the Gold Medal.

Having plenty of credits to his name including a National Level Silver Medal in 2011, Mahesh brought home his second consecutive medal at the North India level, having secured the first at the competition held at Bundi (Rajasthan) in 2012. He has also secured the Mr. Rajasthan title in January 2013.

Mahesh, a self made and self trained body builder, has been taking on the mantle to participate in as many similar competitions across the country as possible; even with the meager finances he manages through his independent efforts, not much coming out of the regulatory bodies or associations linked to the sport.

His tryst with International level competition has been marred on various occasions for the simple want of funding towards his preparations and participation, as told by Mahesh himself to UT.

He is now training independently to participate in the State Level Tournament (Rajasthan) to be held a couple of weeks from now, on January 23-24 at Nathdwara. The event will consist of the Junior, Senior, Masters and Physically challenged categories. The event, being held under the auspices of Madan Paliwal of the Miraj Group, will have Rishikesh Gujjar, President of the Rajsamand zone as the Chief Guest.
