Udaipur's Kiyana Parihar clinches Silver Medal for India in Chess

In the current 25th Asian Youth Chess Championships 2023 taking place in the UAE, Kiyana Parihar, a skilled chess player from Udaipur City, Rajasthan, secured the silver medal in the rapid matches. Tushar Mehta, the chief coach of Chess in Udaipur, highlighted Kiyana's remarkable talent, describing her as a chess prodigy. Kiyana actively participated in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2023 held in Al Ain-UAE. During the competition, she demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, achieving a notable score of 6 out of 7. Her outstanding performance earned her the silver medal in the rapid tournament within the Under-8 Girls category. 

Vikas Sahu, the secretary and chess coach at Chess in Lakeside City, shared that over 600 kids under 18 from 21 countries are taking part in the Asian Youth Chess Championship in the UAE. In Kiyana's group, 43 players are competing. The tournament has three formats, and the rapid tournament happened on Wednesday December 13,2023.Starting from the 9th rank, Kiyana won 6 out of 7 matches, bringing home a silver medal for India. 

Kiyana secured the title by defeating opponents from various countries, including Fatima from the UAE, Sobirova from Uzbekistan, Veronica from Indonesia, Nguyen from Vietnam, Batirova from Kazakhstan, and Divi Bijeesh from India. The upcoming tournament, starting in the classical format on Thursday, will continue until December 21, 2023.

Tushar Mehta and Rajeev Bhardwaj have expressed optimism that Kiyana will continue to secure medals for India in the upcoming formats. Chairman Rajeev Bhardwaj conveyed that, on this occasion, best wishes were extended by Rajendra Teli, Vice President of Rajasthan State Chess, along with Nilesh Kumavat, Bhavesh Pandiyar, and Manish Chandalia, who are Executive Members of the Rajasthan State Chess. Additionally, greetings and congratulations were offered by the chess coach Vikas Sahu and all members and officials of Udaipur.
