Udaipur to have the region's biggest international cricket stadium
-Rajasthan Cricket Stadium will be the biggest cricket stadium in the region.
-The stadium will have a seating capacity of 35000.
It is time for the cricket lovers in Udaipur to be even happier now. The city is about to get another gift in the form of the region’s biggest international cricket stadium. This is more like dream come true for cricket fans of Lake City Udaipur.
The proposal of UIT for allotting 11.5 hectares of land in Khera Kanpur which is barely 10 kilometres away from the city has been accepted by State government. Rajasthan Cricket Stadium will match all international standards and once the land is allotted the process for the construction of this most awaited stadium will begin.
The stadium will have a seating capacity of 35000 viewers which is higher than the Sawai Man Singh Stadium of Jaipur and Barkatullah Khan Stadium of Jodhpur. These 2 stadiums have a seating capacity of 30000 each.
Once this international cricket stadium is constructed, Udaipur fans will be able to enjoy the IPL matches and all other matches of international standards. The stadium will attract a budget of 200 crore rupees. 22 hectare land was demanded by UIT for the stadium. 11.5 hectare land will house the stadium and the rest 10.5 hectares will have road and parking space.
Udaipur has given many good cricket players to the world of cricket. Ashok Menaria has led the team in under-19 category, has played for Rajasthan Royals and is presently the Captain for Rajasthan Team. Vikram Solanki has played for England. Nikhil Doru, Vineet Saxena, Chandrapal Singh and Sourav Chauhan have played in the Ranji team.
(It may be noted that initially the stadium was to be made at Khelgaon for which 9.67 hectares of land was allotted in 2010. But the proposal was later rejected in 2017. Finally UIT once again proposed in July 2020 for the stadium in Khera Kanpur and this time the proposal was accepted.)
