Vineet saves match for Rajasthan, ended with draw

A steadied and patient inning by Rajasthan opener Vineet Saxena along with Vaibhav Deshpandey and Hrishikesh Kanitkar enabled the Champions Rajasthan to save the match for the team today in the Ranji Trophy match at Field Club ground in Udaipur.

Vineet played an inning that lasted for almost 5 hours. He was first involved in a partnership of 105 runs for the first wicket with Vaibhav that gave a strong platform to Rajasthan’s innings before Vaibhav was dismissed for 51 runs.

Captain Hrishikesh Kanitkar joined Vineet and both of them added another 100 runs for the second wicket. Kanitkar scored a well made 45 runs.

Vineet was unlucky to miss his 9th century as he was dismissed by Abhimanyu Mithun for 99 runs. It was for the 3 rd time that Vineet was dismissed in 90.

For team Rajasthan Ashok Menaria added another 27 runs before he was bowled by Vinay Kumar. Both the captains agreed to close the match before the scheduled play time. Rajasthan were 317 for 7 when the match ended.

For Karnataka S. Arvind and Appana took 2 wickets each while Vinay Kumar and Mithun chipped with a wicket apiece.

With this draw Karnataka gained 3 points while defender Rajasthan has to be satisfied with 1 point. Rajasthan takes on Mumbai in their next match starting from 9th November.
