Adventure Sports from 15 Aug - Paragliding / Parasailing on Rajsamand lake to promote tourism

Paragliding and Parasailing will be launched at 5pm on 14 August on the eve of Independence Day and the first public day will be 15 August

With the launch of paragliding services in Rajsamand today evening, the district will become the second in Rajasthan after Jodhpur to offer adventure sport as an activity.

The Department of Tourism and district administration at Rajsamand are all set to commence paragliding services for the public from tomorrow.  The District Collector Arvind Poswal will inaugurate the sport today evening at 5 alongside the scenic Rajsamand lake.

Authorities were busy setting up the grounds for facilitating a smooth paragliding experience. Post the inauguration today, the sport will be open near the lake in the Bhana panchayat area from tomorrow. Initially, the services will be offered over the weekend.

"We hope to create a tourist circuit Udaipur-Kumbhalgarh-Rajsamand to attract visitors and get them hooked to the scenic beauty here. We are launching the sport on weekend basis initially" - Shikha Saxena - Deputy Director, Tourism.

A Jodhpur based aerial sports company, Sky Venture, has been roped in to conduct these adventure activities in the region. Tourists doing the Udaipur - Kumbhalgarh - Rajsamand circuit will be able to enjoy these activities during their stay here.

Sky Venture has already completed its preliminary trials in the area and training has been provided to local operators. As the paragliding/parasailing will take place alongside the lake, participants will enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake as well as the surrounding Aravali mountains.

As per the department of tourism, the adventure sports will facilitate tourism activities in the region and visitors to Kumbhalgarh, Haldighati, Diver, Srinath Mandir, Charbhuja Mandir, Dwarkadheesh Mandir will also be attracted towards this sport.

SDM Rajsamand Sushil Kumar said that each participant in the sport will also be requested to plant a tree so that environmental awareness is promoted.
