Approved road projects on 24 Dec to ease travel from Udaipur to Jaipur via Gomti Chauraha

The project was first approved 7 years ago, but never began...

  • Rs 721.62Cr: Cost of 4 Lane between Gomti Chauraha and Beawar
  • Rs 379.23Cr: Cost of up-gradation of the 50km long Beawar – Bheem highway
  • 6 flyovers and 40 small bridges

The nearly 100km route from Gomti Chauraha to Beawar finally saw the light of the day when work on the four lane highway was approved by Nitin Gadkari.

Work on this section was approved at a virtual meet presided over by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on 24 December, in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport and MSMEs Nitin Gadkari who inaugurated the road and highways project worth Rs 8,341 Cr for Rajasthan.

This project has been pending since 2013 when the then minister CP Joshi had approved the project. However, the delay in handing over the work order to the contractor kept the project handing for the last 7 years.

The 4 lane highway between Udaipur and Gomti Chauraha was completed in 2015. The 6 lane highway between Jaipur and Beawar was already there. However this patch was missing.

"These projects will ease the transportation of commercial goods within and across the state, will improve connectivity at the borders, enhance employment opportunities, save time and fuel, improve tourism and infra development, and will result in providing connectivity for agricultural produce up to larger markets," said Ministry of Road Transport & Highways in a statement.

Addressing the gathering at the virtual meeting, Nitin Gadkari highlighted the importance of the project and said that this will increase employment and tourism opportunities and reduce incidents of highway accidents.
