 Ayodhya International Airport will be renamed "Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham

 

News agency ANI has said that the Ayodhya International Airport will be renamed as "Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham". The earlier name of the airport was Shri Ram International Airport, which will now be changed under directives from the Uttar Pradesh government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the Airport on 30 December, which is a part of the preparations for the inauguration of the Shri Ram Temple at Ayodhya on 22 January. PM Modi will also inaugurate the Railway Station of Ayodhya, which was renamed on 27 December as "Ayodhya Dham Junction".

Dignitaries from around the world are expected to be present at the inauguration of the temple at Ayodhya.

The Rs. 1,450 Crore International Airport has been renamed after Maharishi Valmiki, who wrote the epic "Ramayana". The Airport, occupying an area of 6,500 sq mtr, will have a capacity of accomodating a million passengers every year.
