Ban on flights from India extended by UAE

The suspension of flights from India has been extended until 21st July.

The pandemic has resulted in flights getting cancelled between UAE and India due to rising covid cases in the second wave since April.

Only one-way flights are available but the passengers are not booking tickets to India.

UAE has further extended the suspension of flights to and from 14 countries including India. It has been informed that the suspension is until 21st July in the wake of new emerging strains.

People have been badly affected as the regular flights are constantly being cancelled since April. Though one-way cargo flights available under the air bubble pact are allowed to bring passengers to India, the NRI’s are reluctant to book tickets anticipating the 3rd wave of covid.

A senior officer from one of the airlines informed that this season would be an unusually dry one for the airlines during July-August as passengers are not booking tickets. The flight suspension is likely to continue as UAE is preparing for the expo to be held in October.

The country has been trying really hard to keep covid cases in control and it fears that allowing flights from covid hit countries will immensely affect the prospects of organising the expo.
