Extension of Dadar-Ahmedabad Superfast train to Udaipur

Vande Bharat Express service between Udaipur and Ahmedabad is also expected...

In a significant development for the railway sector in Mewar, plans are underway to enhance connectivity between Udaipur, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Following a high-level meeting yesterday between Assam's Governor Gulabchand Kataria, MLA Tarachand Jain, Mayor Govind Singh Tank and Central Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, several initiatives were discussed to increase railway infrastructure and introduce new train services in the region.

Udaipur currently operates the Udaipur-Bandra Express thrice a week from Mumbai and the Udaipur-Mysuru Humsafar Express once a week. However, recognizing the growing demand for travel between Udaipur, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, authorities are exploring new avenues to cater to passenger needs effectively. Also, plans are in motion to introduce Vande Bharat Express service between Udaipur and Ahmedabad, further enhancing connectivity and comfort for commuters.

Governor Kataria emphasized Udaipur's significance as a popular tourist destination, with a considerable influx of travellers from Ahmedabad to Udaipur each month. In response to this demand, discussions centered around the extension of the Dadar-Ahmedabad Superfast Express to Udaipur.

This extension aims to reduce the 17-hour layover at Ahmedabad station, providing a seamless travel experience for passengers. The Railway Minister assured that electrification work on this route is progressing, with completion expected by April, paving the way for the extension of the Dadar Ahmedabad Superfast Express to Udaipur by May.
