IndiGo flies passenger to UDAIPUR instead of the intended destination PATNA

The DGCA inquiry will find that the boarding pass was not scanned properly

The mistaken flight case became the subject of an investigation by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). A recent incident involved a passenger who was supposed to take an Indigo flight to Patna but instead boarded another flight, landing in Udaipur, nearly 1400 km from his intended destination.

The event occurred on January 30, 2023 and the passenger was sent to Patna on January 31 after being sent to Delhi the same day. Afsar Hussain is the name of the passenger. He reserved a seat on Indigo flight 6E-214 headed for Patna, and on January 30 he arrived in Delhi to take the scheduled trip. But he mistakenly boarded Udaipur-bound flight 6E-319 of Indigo. At the airport in Udaipur, the passenger discovered his mistake.

As per the airline rules, boarding passes are checked at two points. The DGCA inquiry will find that the boarding pass was not scanned properly. The airline in a statement released on Friday said “We are aware of the incident that took place with a passenger in 6E319 Delhi-Udaipur flight.”

“We are engaged with the authorities on this matter. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passenger.” - the airline added.
