"Neral-Matheran" Toy Train Service Suspended for Four-Month Period
Services suspended from June 8 to October 15
The much-loved Neral-Matheran Toy Train, operating on the Neral-Aman Lodge route, will undergo a temporary suspension of services lasting four months. Officials declared on Friday that, in light of the ongoing monsoon season, Services will be suspended from June 8 to October 15, 2024 for safety purposes considering the current monsoon season.
Every year, as a preventive measure due to the risk of landslides the Central Railways temporarily stops the operation of the 21km route of the Neral-Matheran toy train during the monsoon season. As per the announcement, the Central Railways will continue operating scheduled shuttle services connecting Matheran and Aman Lodge, situated near Dasturi point. Access beyond this point, restricted to ambulances for motorized vehicles, leads to the hill station positioned 100 km from Mumbai.
As stated by the Central Railways, six shuttle services of the heritage narrow gauge train will run between Matheran and Aman Lodge from Monday to Friday. According to the statement, eight services will operate on both Saturday and Sunday along the stretch.
