Picnic Spot to be Developed at Ubeshwar Ji, Udaipur

The development will be done by the Forest Department

In a bid to enhance tourism and provide recreational opportunities, the Forest Department has announced plans to develop Ubeshwarji as a new picnic spot. Ubeshwarji, renowned for its natural beauty, will soon feature three staircase-like anicuts constructed on rainy streams, creating waterfalls. Additionally, renovations will be undertaken on two existing anicuts, with stairs for easier access. The project, estimated at Rs 4.4 crore, aims to attract visitors to this picturesque location.

Currently lacking road access to the old anicut from the temple and park, the construction of a road is underway to facilitate tourist movement. Tenders have been invited for the project, which is expected to be completed within six months. The picnic spot is slated to be operational by December, 2024 or January, 2025.

Situated approximately 20 kilometers from the city, Ubeshwar Ji has drawn crowds, especially during monsoon and weekends. As a revered site for Lord Shiva worship, it also sees a significant influx of devotees seeking darshan. The vicinity boasts perennial water sources, with continuous influx observed from the surrounding hilly areas. In recent years, the area has witnessed the development of hotels, homestays, and villas, further underscoring its appeal to tourists.

Earlier, the Forest Department developed Shiv Vatika, spread over 15 hectares above Ubeshwar Ji Ghat, offering amenities such as a watchtower and benches for tourists, along with extensive plantations. The park also offers a panoramic view of Sajjangarh Fort. While the inauguration of this park is pending, the addition of a new picnic spot is expected to increase tourism in the region.
