New Requirement for Indian and Nepalese Travellers Transiting via Istanbul Airport
New visa requirement for Indian and Nepalese transiting through Istanbul Airport to South America
The Embassy of the Republic of Turkiye announced that the Turkish authorities have implemented a new requirement for Indian and Nepalese passport holders travelling to select South American countries. Those transiting through Istanbul Airport will now need to obtain an 'Electronic Airport Transit Visa' (e-ATV).
This requirement affects travellers heading to Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela and is effective immediately from April 15, 2024. The e-ATV can be obtained through the website "evisa.gov.tr" free of charge.
Indian and Nepalese travellers must ensure they have a print-out of their e-ATVs during their journey. Airlines and service providers will check this documentation at departure airports, and Turkish authorities will verify it at visa points in the transit passenger arrival area at Istanbul Airport.
This announcement aims to streamline travel procedures and ensure compliance with international aviation regulations. It highlights the importance for affected passengers to obtain the necessary e-ATV before their journey
