Palace On Wheels Becomes a No-Plastic Train
Udaipur, December 27,2024 - The luxury train, Palace On Wheels, has now been declared a no-plastic train. The decision was made after passengers from various countries raised concerns about the use of plastic during recent journeys. The train management promptly addressed these issues and made eco-friendly changes.
Plastic Bottles Replaced with Glass
Earlier, plastic water bottles were provided to passengers. Now, glass bottles have replaced them. This step not only reduces plastic waste but also enhances the experience for passengers. Plastic hangers, combs, and brushes have also been replaced. Passengers are now given wooden hangers and brushes to use during their journey. This eco-friendly alternative has been well-received. In addition to these changes, shampoo and body lotion are now provided in glass bottles. This shift to sustainable packaging aligns with the train's no-plastic initiative.
Passengers Concerns Led to Change
The decision to go plastic-free was taken after passengers noticed a pile of plastic bottles during cleaning on the train’s journey in December. A passenger suggested making the train plastic-free, and the management acted on this feedback immediately.
Eco-Friendly Step for Tourism
Bhagat Singh Lohagarh, Director of Palace On Wheels, stated that this luxury train represents Rajasthan and India’s tourism on a global stage. Declaring it a no-plastic train is a significant step toward sustainability and environmental responsibility.
