Railway Introduces QR Code Payment Facilities at 115 Stations
QR system will simplify ticket purchases and reduce crowd at ticket counters...
The railway has launched QR code payment facilities at 115 major stations on the Ajmer division's broad gauge lines. This includes Udaipur-Ajmer Ajmer-Palanpur, and Himmatnagar routes.
QR code devices are now available at all UTS (Unreserved Ticketing Service) and PRS (Passengers Reservation System) counters. Passengers can use their mobile phones to scan these codes and pay for both reserved and unreserved tickets.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Sunil Kumar Mahla noted that this new system will simplify ticket purchases, reduce crowding at counters, and eliminate the need for handling loose change. It will also save time for employees managing cash.
This digital payment system aims to speed up ticket issuance and enhance transparency. The QR Code facilitywas first introduced experimentally at the Ajmer station's unreserved ticket window last month. Following its success, North Western Railway has expanded the service to over 437 locations.
