QR Code Payment System Introduced at City Railways Station

Udaipur Railways Station have introduced a new payment system using QR codes at their reservation counters. Devices for this system have been installed at Rana Pratap Nagar and City Station counters.

These QR code devices, provided by the Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), allow passengers to make digital payments via UPI. This new system aims to simplify the payment process, especially for elderly passengers who previously struggled with remembering their UPI IDs. The old method often led to booking delays if passengers couldn't locate their UPI ID in time.

Process of Online Payment

To use the new system, passengers must inform the counter staff that they wish to pay online. The counter clerk will then not enter the online payment option in the software. Instead, the device will show the ticket amount and a QR code. Passengers need to scan this QR code to complete their payment. Tickets will only be printed after the payment is confirmed.

Each ticket will have a unique QR code generated by the device, along with the ticket amount and UTS number. This system is expected to ease the payment process for passengers. Currently, one device is installed at each of the reservation counters at Rana Pratapnagar and City Station. Plans are in place to extend this system to general counters in the future.
