The forest department in Sawai Madhopur is considering offering combo tickets for tourists to enjoy both Ranthambore and Chambal safaris. Additionally, there are plans to introduce two new tourism zones in the Khandar range, which is in close proximity to the boat safari. During a recent meeting led by senior forest officials, discussions were held to enhance tourism in both Chambal and Ranthambore. One of the key topics addressed was the possibility of offering combo tickets to tourists, allowing them to enjoy both the Chambal safari and the Tiger Safari in Ranthambore.

The meeting also brought attention to the inadequate tourism facilities in the Khandar range. In response, the department has resolved to establish new routes in the vicinity of Palighat and introduce combo ticketing options to address this issue.

According to a forest senior staff member, “The department, in the area from Gilai Sagar to Lahpur of Khandar range, a tourist track of about 18 km was prepared by the department in the east. Similarly, a route was prepared from Gilai Sagar itself through the raw valley and going through the dense forest till the post. In such a situation, the department is now preparing to start safari on both these routes from the tourism season.” 

The forest department is currently focused on enhancing the transparency of the ticketing process for Chambal Sanctuary. In November of last year, during the Ranthambore tour, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) issued instructions to implement an online ticketing system for Chambal Sanctuary, similar to Ranthambore. However, the development of the necessary software was not completed, leading to the inability to make Chambal Sanctuary tickets available online. Consequently, the forest department is now exploring the option of introducing online booking for combo tickets, starting with Palighat and Gilai Sagar.

“A package system of combo tickets to woo the tourist will get an opportunity to visit Ranthambore Park as well as Chambal Safari.” - An Official.

Approximately two years ago, forest officials put forth a proposal to establish three tourist zones in Khandar.

“The estimated cost of building a tourist track in Taragarh fort of Khandar, exceeding Rs 1 crore, led to abandonment of the safari plan for Taragarh fort. A proposal for the other two routes was prepared and sent to higher officials, who have now given approval.” - An Official
