Proposal to Connect Direct Railway Line from Udaipur to Mumbai

On Tuesday, July 6,2024, Rajya Sabha Member Chunnilal Garasiya urged the Government of India to survey and connect a new 20-kilometer railway line from Tintoi in Rajasthan to Modasa in Gujarat. His proposal aims to enhance travel convenience and boost tourism.

In a special mention in the Rajya Sabha, Garasiya highlighted the growing number of tourists visiting Udaipur, a renowned destination in Rajasthan. He credited the increase to improved railway facilities, including the recent conversion of the Udaipur-Asarwa (Ahmedabad) line to broad gauge and the introduction of new trains connecting Udaipur with several states.

Garasiya expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and Rail Minister for their efforts. However, he pointed out the inconvenience faced by travellers from Udaipur to Mumbai. Currently, passengers must switch trains at Asarwa, which causes difficulties for many, including the elderly and small children.

By completing the 20-kilometer stretch and linking it to the Udaipur route, Garasiya believes a direct line from Udaipur to Mumbai via Baroda would be established. This connection would save time and reduce travel costs for commuters and tourists alike, potentially increasing the number of visitors to Udaipur.
