This year, Udaipur has witnessed a surge in tourism, particularly from neighbouring states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi. The Diwali season saw a notable influx of visitors, with tourists flocking to both the city and its nearby eco-tourism sites. However, high entry fees and lack of facilities in some tourist places are making it challenging for tourists to fully enjoy the attractions.

High Entry Fees for Eco-Tourism Sites

While tourists are increasingly exploring Udaipur’s surrounding eco-tourism sites, recent reports indicate that entry fees to these sites have significantly risen. In some areas, even where basic tourist amenities are unavailable, hefty fees are being charged. This has deterred some visitors from accessing these natural spots, as the cost outweighs the experience provided.

Adventure Tourism Efforts and Added Costs

To attract adventure enthusiasts, Udaipur has been promoting sites like the Valley of Flowers (Nagar Van Udyan), Bagdarah Nature Park, and Sajjangarh Bio Park. These destinations offer adventure activities, but high entry fees are a concern. Visitors are charged an entry fee, and an additional fee is levied for vehicles. Further, each adventure activity requires a separate ticket. Given the vastness of the forests, tourists often rely on vehicles to explore, adding to their overall expenses.

State Government's Fixed Rates on Reserves and Parks

Across Rajasthan, the state government has standardized rates for entry into tiger reserves, national parks, and sanctuaries. Conservation reserves were included in this list last year. However, most conservation reserves in Udaipur and other areas remain underdeveloped, lacking essential facilities for tourists. 

Limited Amenities in Conservation Reserves

Many conservation reserves in Udaipur are still lacking essential tourist amenities, such as rest areas, guided tours, and proper pathways. As a result, some tourists are rethinking their visits to these locations and are instead choosing other destinations that provide a more balanced experience for the cost.

The increased tourism in Udaipur shows the city's popularity, but the rising costs and limited infrastructure at eco-tourism sites could affect its appeal in the long term.
