Navratri sees decline in Roadways Bus passengers

Rs 2.86 Crore earned against Rs 3.22 Crore goal

During the festive season, the Rajasthan Transport Corporation is struggling to meet its financial goals. Initially, there was a surge in traffic on the routes leading up to Navratri, but this boost was short-lived. The Roadways had set an ambitious target of earning Rs 3.22 crore within 21 days of the month. However, they only managed to generate a revenue of Rs 2.86 crore. This represents a significant shortfall of approximately Rs 35 lakh compared to their target.

Conversely, the operation of buses has surpassed the designated target. The original goal was to cover 7.62 lakh kilometers within a span of 21 days, but in reality, the buses managed to cover 7.67 lakh kilometers. This signifies that the buses exceeded their target by covering an additional 5,000 kilometers.

According to officials, during the start of Navratri, there is an increase in the arrival and departure of travelers. Afterward, for about 6 to 7 days, there is a decrease in traffic. Following the conclusion of Navratri, traffic will begin to increase again. It should be noted that approximately 300 buses operate daily from the depot, carrying around 15,000 passengers. The Roadways earn a daily revenue of around Rs 14 lakh.
