7 Day mandatory Home Quarantine for International passengers arriving in India
Testing of all passengers arriving from classified "High Risk" countries to continue
The Union Health Ministry has instructed that all International Passengers arriving in India will be required to undertake a mandatory 7 day Home Quarantine immediately on arriving at their destination port. They will further have to get themselves tested on the eighth day and upload the results on the Air Suvidha Portal.
These instructions were issued today in light of the rising COVID cases as the Third Wave of the pandemic sets in, specially with Omicron the African variant. The international passengers, irrespective of whether they were tested on the port of arrival or not, will need to adhere to the 7 Day Home Quarantine protocol and upload their test results of the eighth day.
“All passengers (including those 2% who were random tested upon arrival and found negative) will undergo home quarantine for 7 days and shall undertake RT-PCR test on the eight day of arrival in India)”, Union Health Ministry
Despite a negative report even on the eighth day, self monitoring has been suggested for the next 7 days. The earlier norm of testing all passengers arriving from "at risk" countries will continue unchanged.
