Tourists discover roads of Udaipur’s countryside on E-Bike

Countryside cycling revives nostalgia

Tourists are increasingly drawn to the rustic charm of the countryside, particularly the nearby rural and hilly areas, opting for bicycles and e-bike scooters as their mode of exploration. Venturing through these regions not only infuses excitement into their travels but also rekindles fond childhood memories. These trends were recently highlighted in a travel blog featured on the renowned travel portal, "Travel and Leisure," which positions Udaipur as an exceptional and distinctive destination in India.

The blog underscores the appeal of cycling tours, which evoke a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of India in the 1990s. This touch of the past adds an extra layer of enchantment to the entire journey, making the experience even more special for travelers.

In the blog, it is mentioned that the delightful journey to Rayta Hills, located 15 kilometers away from the city, on a bicycle at the early hour of 6:00 AM, passes through Jagdish Chowk. The absence of heavy traffic allows for a leisurely ride through the picturesque fields at a steady pace of 20 kilometers per hour. As you ascend along Jhadol Highway, you are treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the city from an elevated vantage point, making the experience truly magnificent.

In this context, Shikha Saxena, the Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, sees this as a branding opportunity. She points out that in the past, tourists predominantly explored the city's tourist attractions, but now, the countryside offers a fresh and intriguing option. It is clear that this shift will lead to a heightened tourist influx in the near future, thereby fostering eco-tourism. Travelers who previously confined themselves to hotels will now venture out onto these roads in search of novel experiences.

On October 8, in the Readers' Choice for the year 2023, Travel Magazine Condé Nast ranked The Leela Palace as the second-best hotel in the country, while Taj Lake Palace secured the third position. The Oberoi Udaivilas Hotel was placed at the 12th position. On October 15, in the rankings by the travel portal MSN, Udaipur was declared as the third most beautiful city in the world for witnessing sunsets. On October 22, the TV channel's lifestyle portal, Swirlster, ranked Udaipur as the fifth-best city in the country to visit during Diwali.
