Train ticket changes are allowed within 48 hours before departure
48 Hours booking changes are applicable only for group booking...
Railways offer a group booking service. Out of the passengers using this service, 10% can change the names on the ticket for other travelers up to 48 hours before the train departs if someone misses the train. However, most people prefer making individual bookings rather than choosing group booking.
Indian Railways offers different facilities for passengers, but many people miss out on the benefits due to a lack of knowledge about the rules. One such service is group booking, allowing people traveling together for educational, religious or wedding events to reserve tickets one hour after train reservations open. To book, passengers must submit copies of specified documents to the authorized officer. Different officials of varying ranks are responsible for different group bookings.
As per railway rules, if a passenger has a government job and is traveling for official duty, they can request a ticket 24 hours before the train leaves. For group bookings related to different events and functions, individuals need to apply 48 hours in advance, providing the required documents.
If a confirmed ticket in a group booking is missed, the passenger's name can be changed up to 48 hours before the train departure. To make this change, the authorized officer must receive an application along with the required documents. Once permission is granted by the officer, the ticket is updated with the name of the person who will be taking the journey, replacing the original passenger's name.
