Udaipur City Station: Affordable meals for General class passengers at just Rs. 20
Facility also available at Ajmer and Abu Road station
Now, the common man traveling by train can avail affordable food (economy meal) at railway platforms. This facility will be provided at food stalls located on the platforms, instead of being available in AC or sleeper coaches of the trains. The meals will be offered at a nominal price of Rs 20. Notably, these food stalls have been strategically installed on the platforms, positioned where the regular coaches halt, both in the front and back.
As per the decision made by the Ajmer division, a trial period of six months will be conducted to offer a special food service consisting of seven puris with vegetable-pickles. The Railway Board and North Western Railway Headquarters have recently introduced this facility on an experimental basis at two additional stations, in addition to Udaipur. In addition to the economy meal, a snack combo meal will be provided at a fixed price of Rs. 50. Furthermore, passengers will have the option to purchase a drinking glass for Rs. 3.
Food Stalls Placement
Two food stalls have recently been established at City station in Udaipur, providing facilities for passengers. These economy meal stalls are positioned on Platform Number-1, specifically at the Rana Pratap Nagar end and Himmatnagar end, where general class coaches make their stops. Additionally, similar stalls have been set up at Ajmer railway station, specifically at the Madar station end and Daurai station Chher, as well as on Platform Number-1 of Abu Road station at the Ahmedabad end and Ajmer end of the Ajmer division. Placing these stalls near the stopping points of general class coaches aims to ensure easy access to affordable food for the common man.
