Udaipur City Station Upgraded to NSG-2 Category

The existing facilities at Udaipur City Station will be enhanced

The Railway Board has reclassified over 8,000 railway stations across India based on revenue and passenger load. As part of this reclassification, Udaipur City Station has been upgraded from NSG-3 (Non-Suburban Group) to NSG-2. This upgrade will result in improved passenger facilities at the station.

Classification Based on Revenue and Passenger Load

The reclassification of railway stations, introduced by the Railways in 2018, considers both passenger numbers and revenue. NSG stations are those with a higher volume of long-distance passengers. Udaipur City's upgrade will significantly improve its passenger handling capacity.

New Facilities to be Developed

With the NSG-2 upgrade, Udaipur City Station will see several new developments. These include a food plaza, prepaid taxi service, and an air-conditioned VIP executive lounge. Additionally, separate AC and non-AC waiting halls for women, men, the elderly, and differently-abled passengers will be provided. The station will also be equipped with CCTV cameras for enhanced security.

Existing Facilities to Be Upgraded

The existing facilities at Udaipur City Station will also be enhanced. For example, the train coach indication system, currently available only on Platform-1, will now be extended to all platforms. The station will also be fully covered by CCTV cameras. A prepaid taxi service will be made available as part of the ongoing station redevelopment project.

No Change for Rana Pratap Nagar Station

Meanwhile, there has been no change in the category of Rana Pratap Nagar station. It remains in the NSG-5 category. Stations in this category offer amenities such as modular catering stalls, pay-and-use toilets, bio-toilets, Wi-Fi, waiting rooms, public address systems, bookstalls, and parking facilities.

State-wide Station Upgrades

Across India, 28 railway stations have been placed in the top NSG-1 category, including Jaipur Junction. Jaipur is the only station from Rajasthan in this category. In addition to Udaipur, Bikaner station has also been upgraded to NSG-2. In Rajasthan, 58 major stations have been upgraded, with 13 stations moving to NSG-3, 9 to NSG-4, and 33 to NSG-5 categories.
