Solo travel trend increased in Udaipur over the past two years
Udaipur stands out as an excellent destination for solo travelers...
In the upcoming year, the tourism department plans to boost tourism in the state of Rajasthan with a new strategy. The goal is to rebrand Rajasthan not just as a winter retreat, heritage site, or wedding destination but also as a solo travel haven. To achieve this, they have initiated an online campaign to attract travelers. Udaipur stands out as an excellent destination for solo travelers. In 2023, Travel and Leisure ranked Udaipur as the 11th best solo women's travel spot in the country.
Additionally, in 2022, Travel Triangle, a tour and travel company, declared Udaipur the third safest city for solo female travelers in the country. Following the COVID era, Udaipur has experienced a rise in visits from travel bloggers. These bloggers often explore the city alone, highlighting its diverse offerings such as cuisine, heritage, culture, and scenic lakes in their promotional content. The captivating photos and videos shared by these bloggers attract tourists, contributing to a record-breaking 19.90 lakh visitors to the city last year.
The campaign has expanded to include Udaipur, along with Pushkar and Mount Abu. Over the last two years, Udaipur has emerged as a favored solo travel destination. Notably, the state welcomed a remarkable 16.06 crore tourists until November of the previous year.
To boost these numbers even further, the Tourism Department is actively promoting solo travel. This strategic move aims to capitalize on the growing popularity of Udaipur as a solo destination and enhance the overall tourism experience in the state. Udaipur is now gaining global recognition as a versatile destination, offering experiences for heritage lovers, winter enthusiasts, monsoon seekers, and those looking for a summer retreat.

Bahubali Hill has become renowned as a top trekking destination for global tourists in recent years. Visitors come here to enjoy the lake and the picturesque valleys of the Aravalli Range while indulging in trekking. The campaign also shares details about the mountains of Mount Abu.
People involved in Udaipur's tourism industry believe that the tourism department's campaign is likely to attract more foreign tourists to Udaipur in the future. Foreign visitors show a strong interest in solo travel. In India, destinations such as Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, Nainital, Shimla and Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim, Ladakh, Kovalam and Munnar in Kerala are popular choices for solo trips.
