Rs 887 Crore transformation of the airport

Both domestic and international flights will be operational soon

The foundation stone laying ceremony for the integrated terminal at Udaipur's Dabok Airport is set to take place today on October 5, 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is scheduled to virtually inaugurate the foundation stone laying ceremony for this much-anticipated terminal project. The new integrated terminal, designed to enhance the travel experience and infrastructure at Dabok Airport, is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.887 crores. This ambitious project is set to transform the air travel landscape in the region, boasting an impressive footprint of 40,000 square meters.

New Developments

The forthcoming terminal at Udaipur Airport is set to accommodate a substantial increase in capacity, with a planned seating capacity for 2,050 passengers, a significant leap from its current capacity of only 680 passengers. The new terminal will feature a spacious arrival area spanning 16,000 square meters, providing ample room for arriving passengers to comfortably navigate the terminal. Additionally, the departure area will encompass 19,000 square meters, ensuring that departing travelers have a generous and accommodating space.

To facilitate smooth passenger flow, the terminal will be equipped with four access doors, with two designated for entry and two for exit. This will help streamline the check-in and boarding processes, reducing congestion and improving efficiency. In terms of check-in facilities, the new terminal will boast a total of 42 check-in counters, allowing passengers a range of options and reducing wait times. Furthermore, the construction of four new aerobridges will enhance the boarding process by providing direct access to aircraft, eliminating the need for passengers to walk on the tarmac.

Beyond its functional upgrades, the new terminal will also serve as a cultural showcase, featuring glimpses of the rich art and heritage of Mewar. This integration of local culture and traditions into the terminal's design and decor will offer passengers a unique and immersive experience, reflecting the essence of the region.

New Parking Facility

Airport Director Yogesh Nagaich has announced that tenders were issued in accordance with the directives of the Airport Authority of India (AAI). Following the foundation stone laying ceremony, the construction of the new terminal is set to begin with the aim of its completion by June 2026. In addition to this, a new parking facility capable of accommodating 700 four-wheeler vehicles will be constructed to enhance the convenience of air travelers, their families, and rental vehicle providers. Currently, the airport offers parking space for 300 four-wheeler vehicles.

International Aviation Standards

These upgrades will ensure that the airport aligns with international aviation standards, enhancing the travel experience for passengers on both domestic and international flights. Customs and immigration procedures can also be enforced rigorously. Presently, there are 16 flights in operation from Udaipur to various destinations, including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, and Indore. The runway length currently stands at 2281 meters, which complies with international aviation standards.
