Udaipur Set to Host 500+ Destination Weddings This Winter

Wedding Season Resumes with Devuthani Ekadashi

Udaipur, November 20, 2024 - The wedding season has officially resumed across India with Devuthani Ekadashi on November 12, 2024. Udaipur is emerging as a top destination for weddings, attracting corporate houses, celebrities, businessmen, and politicians.

Over 500 Destination Weddings Expected

From November to February, Udaipur is expected to host more than 500 destination weddings, mostly in 5 to 7-star hotels. The average budget for these weddings ranges between Rs 2 crore and Rs 10 crore. This marks a 20% growth in the destination wedding market compared to last year.

High-Profile Weddings in Udaipur

On November 12, Bollywood singer Nitin Mukesh's younger son, Naman Nitin Mukesh, had a grand wedding in Udaipur. Similarly, on November 17, Mumbai-based businessman Rajesh Sharma hosted his son’s wedding, attended by notable figures, including Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani.  In December, some functions of Gautam Adani’s younger son, Jeet Adani's wedding, are also likely to be held in Udaipur.

Increase in Luxury Hotels

With Udaipur's growing fame as a wedding destination, luxury hotel chains like Marriott, Hyatt, and Fairmont Udaipur Palace are rapidly expanding in the city. This development is expected to further boost the number of destination weddings.

Destination weddings create employment opportunities for many people, including local residents. This contributes to the economic growth of the city and supports various small businesses.

The rise in destination weddings has led to a boom in the wedding planning industry. A significant portion of Udaipur’s population is now involved in event management and hotel services. Businesses like tent services, lighting, sound, bands, mehndi artists, makeup artists, folk performers, horse rentals, photographers, and catering are thriving as a result.

Modern Themes Gaining Popularity

According to experts, the trend is shifting from royal-themed weddings to modern-themed celebrations. More money is now being spent on entertainment, food, décor, and artist management.

Unique Elements in Weddings

Weddings in Udaipur are focusing on innovation, from invitations to guest gifts. Ceremonies held in heritage properties often include performances by local artists and showcase handcrafted markets.

Diverse Culinary Offerings

Food at these weddings includes a mix of cuisines like Punjabi, Banarasi, Kashmiri, Chinese, Rajasthani, and international dishes. Specialized caterers from respective regions are brought in to maintain authenticity.
