3 New Volvo Buses Expected to Serve Udaipur-Jodhpur Route
RSRTC to add 12 new Volvo buses to its fleet
Udaipur, December 24,2024 - Good news for passengers traveling on luxury buses in Rajasthan. The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) is set to add 32 new Volvo buses to its fleet, improving comfort and convenience for travelers.
New Buses on the Way
Out of the 32 new Volvo buses, 12 will be purchased by the corporation, and 20 will be taken on contract. The tender process for this purchase has already started. The new buses are expected to start operating on routes by July next year.
Udaipur-Jodhpur Route to Benefit
Three of the new Volvo buses might be introduced on the Udaipur-Jodhpur route. This will bring back luxury buses to replace the older ones that were recently out of service. Currently, standard AC buses are operating on this route, but they do not match the luxury of the Scania buses previously used.
Current Fleet Status
RSRTC's current luxury fleet consists of 67 buses. Of these, 23 are owned by the corporation, and 34 are on contract. The fleet includes AC sleeper buses, non-AC sleeper buses, and Starline buses. Due to the removal of 12 Scania buses that ran over 15 lakh kilometers, the fleet now operates with fewer luxury buses.
Additional Plans to Replace Condemned Buses
In addition to the 32 new Volvo buses, RSRTC is also planning to replace its condemned buses with 288 new buses. These buses will feature 3x2 seating arrangements and will cost around 100.8 crore rupees. This initiative is part of the corporation's efforts to improve its fleet and maintain a high standard of service for passengers.
Passenger Demand and Popular Routes
The Udaipur-Jodhpur route is especially popular among tourists, as there is no train service available. With the addition of new buses, passengers will have more options for traveling in comfort between these two major tourist destinations.
Fleet Expansion Continues
RSRTC currently operates 3,708 buses across 52 depots in Rajasthan, serving around 7.31 lakh passengers daily. The recent purchase of 500 new buses and the upcoming additions show the corporation's commitment to enhancing public transport services in the state.
