Udaipur City Railway Station Gets 'Eat Right' Certificate

Udaipur City and Ajmer railway stations get this recognition from Health Ministry and FSSAI which is valid until June 2027

Udaipur, July 24, 2025 - Two major stations of the Ajmer Division — Ajmer and Udaipur City — have been awarded the prestigious Eat Right certificate, a significant recognition granted by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, in collaboration with FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India). This certificate is awarded only to those who fulfill FSSAI’s stringent food safety and hygiene standards.

The Eat Right initiative was launched across the country in 2018. In alignment with this, and under instructions from the Principal Chief Medical Director, the North Western Railway headquarters had set a target to implement it at major stations.

As part of the certification process, the food establishments at these stations first underwent external audits across multiple food safety parameters. In the second phase, necessary corrective actions were taken to address gaps, and all working food handlers at these stations received basic training mandated by FSSAI through an authorised private partner. After the final audit, Ajmer and Udaipur City railway stations were awarded the Eat Right certificate.

Divisional Railway Manager Raju Bhootda has described this certification as a major achievement for the Ajmer Division. The Eat Right certification indicate that passengers at both Ajmer and Udaipur City railway stations are getting safe and good-quality food.

According to official sources, key people involved in working towards this achievement include Dr Ajit Singh, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent, and Manoj Sinha, Food Safety Officer of the Ajmer Division. The certification process at both stations was initiated by Sinha in 2024, during which FSSAI’s Golden Rules, licensing, food handling practices, colour-coded garbage collection, pest control and other standards were successfully implemented. Upon meeting all required standards and completing final audits, the FSSAI issued the certifications.

Several officials and departments have been involved in this success, say the sources, including the Chief Health Director, Joint Food Safety Commissioner – Jaipur, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager – Ajmer, FSSAI master trainers, canteen managers at ERI Ajmer Workshop, State Food Authority – Ajmer, IRCTC representatives and other railway health inspectors.

Similarly, in Udaipur City, critical support came from FSSAI master trainers, auditors, food handlers, ACMO - Rana Pratap Nagar, ARO, Station Superintendent, CMI, CHI Udaipur, and officials from the State Food Authority - Udaipur, the sources add.

The Eat Right certificate will remain valid at both stations for two years, from June 30, 2025, to June 29, 2027.
