Udaipur Railway Station Redevelopment by October 2025
Work on redevelopment of Udaipur City Railway Station of Ajmer Division is targetted to be completed in the next 15 months, as per information provided by the Chief PRO of North Western Railways, Ajmer Division. The building being constructed under the redevelopment of the station is a mixture of tradition and modern architecture and heritage of the Mewar region. Its façade will be in line with the local heritage buildings of the Udaipur region and will showcase the rich culture of Rajasthan. The entire project has a budget of nearly Rs 300 Cr, with an expected completion date of 25 October 2025.
The work that has been completed so far includes:
- demolition of the station building on the east side;
- temporary shifting of the parking on the west side;
- temporary shifting of the statue of Maharana Pratap;
- completion of structural work of the RCC frame and basement of the building on the eastern side;
- WIP: structural work of the building on the west side of the station;
- WIP: new RPF station and other works.
Udaipur City station will also have various passenger amenities like a departure block (watch room, enquiry, staff toilets, baggage scanner, access control gates, a kiosk), and arrival block (ticket counters, toilets, tourist information centre, access control gates, staff toilets, railway office, CCTV room, server room, baby care room, porter room, ticket counter, enquiry, toilets, baggage scanner, premium retiring room etc.)
Plaza/Concourse
- Primarily designed to a capacity of approximately 40,000 passengers per day;
- Will connect the buildings on both sides and all platforms;
- It will be 56 m x 72m in size;
- All passenger amenities at one place, along with space for retail shops, cafeteria and recreational facilities;
- Seating capacity for at least 1000 passengers;
- Executive Lounge, Tourist Information Centre and Food Courts;
- Separate gates for arrival/departure.
Other Features
- Total 86,248 sqm area will be developed at the station;
- Includes East and West station buildings, offices, concourse, basement, parking area, roof over platforms and tracks;
- Platform shelters of 9710 sqm area;
- 20 lifts and 26 escalators will be installed for passengers.
- A sky walk connecting the FOB to the East Side Building - 268 meters;
- Parking of 11,433 sqm in the basement (to accommodate 610 four-wheelers, 185 Autos and 270 two-wheelers).
- Parking through both sides of the station;
- 2020 kW solar plant and rain water harvesting plant;
- Food court of 900 sqm area on the third floor of the West side station building;
- Retail kiosk of 560.4 sqm area on the concourse;
- Retail kiosk of 268 sqm area each on the first floor of the East side and West side buildings and on the ground floor of the West side building.E
- Executive lounge of 178.8 sqm on the second floor of the West side building;
- Five rest rooms for passengers on the third floor of the East side building.
