Before the tourist and wedding season begins, Udaipur has achieved significant recognition. The online portal Outlook Travel has named Udaipur as the top wedding destination in India for December in its OT Wedding Wednesday series. Four cities from Rajasthan, including Udaipur, have made it to the list.

"The “City of Lakes,” Udaipur, is widely associated with royal weddings. Among the famous betrothals in the city, Bollywood celebrities like Raveena Tandon and Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani have their names etched in the Udaipur Hall of Fame for their fairytale weddings. Though the city, having been an important centre in mediaeval times, has a gamut of heritage monuments and landmarks, The Taj Lake Palace and the City Palace are two of the most opulent historical sites for nuptial affairs. It’s difficult to top Udaipur’s romantic ambience, which is fueled by its magnificent palaces, ancient markets, and breathtaking lakes. Jaipur is ranked third, Jodhpur fifth, and Jaisalmer seventh on the list. Goa, Shimla, and Agra are also featured. The portal highlighted Udaipur's association with royal weddings, noting that Bollywood celebrities such as Raveena Tandon, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Isha Ambani have celebrated their weddings and pre-wedding functions in the city.

Industry experts confirm that Udaipur is one of India's premier wedding destinations. The demand for its heritage hotels and lakeside venues is high across the country. Each year, over 200 royal and destination weddings are held in Udaipur.

Recent notable weddings in the city include those of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's brother, South Indian actress Niharika Konidela, cricketer Hardik Pandya, and actress Parineeti Chopra. These events have featured a range of cultural traditions, including Punjabi, South Indian, and Marathi.

On September 2, the travel portal Thrillophilia ranked Udaipur fifth among the top 30 cities to visit in September. The following day, Condé Nast listed Lake Pichola as the 28th most beautiful lake in the world.
