In a bid to enhance public transportation in Udaipur, the Transport Department has approved 16 city bus routes. However, currently, only six of these routes are operational under the Udaipur City Transport Services Limited. Anticipation looms as the state government announces plans to launch 35 new e-buses, potentially leading to the operation of buses on additional designated routes within the city. Furthermore, the Municipal Corporation is gearing up to launch eight buses on two routes, marking a significant step towards improving transportation accessibility.

Since July 2, 2021, the Udaipur Municipal Corporation initiated city bus services through Udaipur City Transport Services Limited, aiming to cater to the transportation needs of residents and visitors alike. While there are plans to extend bus services to rural routes outside the city, the focus remains on prioritizing the operation of buses on all 16 existing city routes.

With approximately 30 routes already approved for future expansion, the company awaits the arrival of new e-buses to address the current scarcity and facilitate the operation of buses on the remaining routes.

In addition to catering to residents needs, plans are underway to introduce city tour buses tailored for visitors. These buses are expected to cover 17-18 key tourist attractions, including Sukhadia Circle, Saheliyon Ki Bari, Pichola and Fateh Sagar. The Municipal Corporation is diligently working towards ensuring the availability of reliable buses for tourists' convenience.

As efforts persist to enhance public transportation services, stakeholders remain optimistic about the positive impact on commuting experiences and tourism in Udaipur.
