Monsoon update-Madri dam about to overflow
Monsoon-2019 is proving to be a boon for Udaipur region.
Heavy rain showers proved to be a boon for the dams of Udaipur region. The downpour during evening hours provided a good amount of water to the Madri dam which is now almost full. The dam with a capacity of 34 feet will overflow with another rain shower. This will prove to be quite beneficial for the Mansi Vakal dam which is one of the biggest sources of drinking water.
Madri dam which was around 31 feet 6 inches touched the 33 inch mark on Friday evening. Mansi Vakal dam still needs 6 metres of water. It may be noted that the areas which are supplied water through this dam are getting water once in 72 hours as the catchment areas did not receive good rainfall. The water resource department is tensed about the water level of this dam as this would affect the water supplies throughout the year. With the Madri dam receiving good rain, it is being hoped that Mansi Vakal will not be neglected this season.

Since Madar linking canal is also receiving good rain, all the 3 gates of Fatehsagar were lifted by 3 inches. Pichola and Fatehsagar are continously getting water even now whereas mid-August everyone was too worried about the water level in the lakes. Vallabhnagar dam is likely to be full soon as Udaisagar is overflowing. Vallabhnagar dam has a capacity of 20 feet and it has 14 feet water now. Swaroop Sagar is still getting water from Sisarma and its 2 gates are still open. Nandeshwar channel is flowing at 1 feet 3 inches and Thoor ki pal is also overflowing.
