Udaipur May Experience Intense Cold in Second Half of December
Chances of record-breaking cold in December are low; below-average rainfall expected
Udaipur, December 2, 2024 – Udaipur is seeing an increase in the chill owing to cold winds blowing for the past two days. Early snowfall in the western Himalayas has intensified the chill. According to the meteorological department, yesterday the daytime temperature was 25.2°C and the night-time temperature was 9.1°C. On November 30, the maximum temperature was 23.8°C and the minimum was 8.7°C. This indicates an increase of 0.4°C in the night-time temperature and 1.4°C in the daytime temperature.
Cold winds are blowing from the north, along with warm winds from the west, which is preventing extreme cold from setting in. The temperature in the first 10 days of December will be close to average. In the second half of the month, the effect of intense cold will begin.
The Jaipur Met department says the average maximum temperature for December to be 26°C and the minimum 8.8°C. Over the past 20 days, the daytime temperature has dropped by 7°C and night-time temperature by 6°C.
The active cyclone in South India will have a partial effect on southern Rajasthan, resulting in light cloud cover in the coming days. The western disturbances are expected to be less active in December just as in November. In such a case, there will be no significant rainfall, and the winter will remain normal. This means that it will be cold, but the chances of record-breaking cold are low.
Udaipur usually receives an average of 0.8 mm of rainfall in December but there is a possibility of below-average rainfall throughout the month. For the coming days, dry weather is expected.
According to weather analysts, in the first week of December, the daytime and night-time temperatures will remain around average, with no significant change compared to now. By the end of the second week some changes are expected. The influence of northern winds will increase and a drop in temperature will begin.
Daytime and night-time temperatures in the third week will be below average. There will be a stronger feeling of intense cold during both day and night. By the fourth week of December, daytime and night-time temperatures will remain low. The cold effect will persist throughout the day due to fog, analysts say.
